Rt/W Alternative to SS
First off a friendly "Hi!" to everyone here, as it's my first post on these forums.
I figured I'd post it here, since I'll mostly be on the Rt forums anyways.
Either way, that's not what the thread is about, right?
Right! I figured I'd post a build to start with because while all the [Spirit's Strength] builds are nice, they can get a bit boring.
So I've thrown together a little Rt/W build I find rather amusing to run, I've never tested it in PvP since I don't do that, but it works like a charm in PvE.
[build prof=Rt/W name="I can't believe it's not a Warrior!" box swordsmanship=12 communing=10+1+1 restoration=4][For Great Justice!][Vital Weapon][Hundred Blades][Sever Artery][Gash][Sun and Moon Slash]["I Am Unstoppable!"][death pact signet][/build]
A variation I'm still testing a bit:
[build prof=Rt/W name="I still can't believe it's not a Warrior!" box swordsmanship=12 channeling=10+1+1 restoration=4][For Great Justice!][Weapon of Aggression][Hundred Blades][Sever Artery][Gash][Final Thrust][Asuran Scan][death pact signet][/build]
I'm not sure about using [death pact signet] as the final skill, but it's always handy to bring along I guess.
Feel free to spout critique or praise, whichever tickles your fancy.
So with that, this'll be the end of my very first post!
Again, friendly greetings to all.

The only problem with casters being melee is they take 30% more damage than a regular melee.
I'd take spirits strength barrage over this. Your defense is [i am [email protected]] which brings your armor equals to a tank. Drop [sever [email protected]] and [[email protected]] for something else.

[Jaizhenju strike] with [Barbarous slice] or [Pure strike]?

Your Resto in both of those builds, at minimum, should be 8.

Its always nice also to add in [sun and moon slash] with your build. Maybe you can even just put [splinter weapon] instead of aggression since most of your attack skills are adr-based and you won't have problems with energy.
So [hundred blades][sun and moon slash][splinter weapon][drunken master] how about that?

Be sure to use Ghost Forge armour; it'll go nicely with the armour boosting norn shout, as well as covering downtime.
Splinter Weapon would be nice to have in there, too.

your attribute spread screams "i don't even know what an attribute quest is"; people don't usually design builds without all 200 points in mind, even if one of their pve characters doesn't have them all yet. 12 12+1+1 3 would be better on both if you insist on using one of these over a warrior for whatever reason.

I'm all for splinter but you might also want to consider having an ally cast [great dwarf weapon] on you. +Damage and KD is always pretty nice.

Ok, but your build is WORSE than a real warrior.
The Strength of SS is that it's 53 armor ignoring extra damage on every hit. DPS Wise, I'm pretty sure SS can outperform a Warrior.
So the second you take out SS, you throw all reasoning behind the build out the window, and you might aswell roll a Warrior, and do the job harder (Strength Penetration), better (14 swordsmanship), faster (Frenzy, flail or any other warrior IAS) and stronger (WAY more armor).
I know, I know, it's just for the fun. But if it's just for the fun, WHY are you asking people here to improve your build?
So what you're trying to do, is create something that is a Rt/W with a weapon, yet that isn't SS, but is still somewhat efficient (Or atleast close to a Warrior)...
I'm really sorry, but just take Spirits Strength instead. And if you refuse to take SS because it's boring, well then simply run WHATEVER you want, and don't ask advice from people, as NO MATTER WHAT they suggest, it won't ever be as effective as a full Warrior, nor a SS Rit.

I see your point, but there is no written rule against trying to improve on "fun" builds. Critique applies to both PvE and PvE, fun or not. And those are really not "my" builds. Sure, I've thrown them together real quick-like, but that's the whole point! I figured it would be a nice thread for the Rt forums, something that wasn't about the "SS-caster-on-melee", but instead about something radical.
Sure, maybe it's not very effective, but it's worth a shot. And with input from the community (see above posts, which I've taken to heart!), it could become somewhat effective, and a whole lot of fun!

I haven't been playing Guild Wars for that long, so maybe I was getting ahead of myself by already thinking of "build designing". Perhaps once I've learned a bit more, I can serve the community better.
Seriously, for the longest time I thought that the spot next to your bags was for some sort of quiver (no really). Until someone said "yeah, a quiver of perpetual bye-bye", and then it all made sense.

[build prof=ritua/warri channe=12+1+3 tactic=12 axemas=3][splinter weapon (PvE)][cyclone axe][ancestors' rage (PvE)][cruel was daoshen][spirit rift][gladiator's defense][defensive stance][[email protected]][/build]
Meant to farm melee mobs, but it might work okay for you in general PvE.
